WILLMAR -- The Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners will continue its discussion Tuesday on whether to make the positions of county auditor-treasurer and county recorder appointed rather than elected.
The commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building.
The two positions have traditionally been filled through election. As the jobs of auditor-treasurer and recorder become more complex, however, the county has begun exploring whether these two officials should be appointed instead -- a process that could help ensure whoever holds the position is appropriately qualified.
The commissioners also are scheduled to have a discussion Tuesday on the budget reduction of lifeguards at county parks.
The commissioners will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday as the Family Services Committee to hear reports and review service contracts.
