Kandiyohi County Board to meet Tuesday, Jan. 4

WILLMAR — At its first meeting of the new year, the Kandiyohi County Board will complete its reorganization, including electing the chair and vice chair, assigning committees. setting minimum salaries for elected officials and choosing the official newspaper.

The County Board meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the boardroom of the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building in Willmar. The full agenda for the meeting can be found at kcmn.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingTypeList.aspx .

Following the reorganization, state Rep. Dave Baker and State Sen. Andrew Lang are scheduled to give a legislative update.

County Public Works director Mel Odens will discuss the county bridge replacement program. The commissioners will then need to approve a resolution accepting the plan if the county is to receive state funding to do the work.

The contracts for the Sheriff's Office to provide law enforcement services to Lake Lillian, Spicer, Raymond, Pennock and New London are up for renewal. There is a suggested 4 percent increase in the rates the cities pay the county.

The contracts for the county attorney to handle city prosecutions for New London, Spicer and Raymond are also up for renewal.
