WILLMAR -- Two men vying for Kandiyohi County Sheriff meet tonight in a candidate forum.
Sponsored by the Willmar Area League of Women Voters, the forum will be held at 7 p.m. in the Willmar Municipal Utilities Auditorium, 700 Litchfield Ave SW, Willmar.
The upcoming retirement of Sheriff Dan Hartog, who has held the position for the past 16 years, means voters will select a new sheriff.
There were initially four candidates who filed for the position but that field was narrowed to two -- Eric Holien and Greg Stehn -- during the primary election in August.
Holien is a former Kandiyohi County deputy who currently works with the Lower Sioux Tribal Police and Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
