WILLMAR - The Kandiyohi County Human Trafficking Task Force and Ridgewater College have partnered to bring the nationally acclaimed documentary "I Am Jane Doe" for a free showing at 6 p.m. Jan. 25. The event is being held in observance of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
The film chronicles the struggle that several parents have been waging on behalf of their middle school daughters who were victims of online sex trafficking. The event is free to the public and there is no registration required.
Following the film, held in the Ridgewater College Theater, Room 141, members of the Kandiyohi County Human Trafficking Task Force will answer questions and facilitate discussion. Topics will include sexual exploitation and trafficking in rural Minnesota, warning signs or indications of trafficking, how to keep children safe and the steps that communities can take to prevent trafficking.
The task force in a news release announced additional awareness efforts throughout the month, including public service announcements and presentations at area schools, churches and service clubs. There will also be informational displays on sexual exploitation and trafficking at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building, the Willmar Public Library and Cash Wise Foods.
These collaborative efforts are funded by Ridgewater College, Safe Avenues, the Kandiyohi County Attorney's Office and the Willmar Area Women's Fund.

There will also be a showing at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 on the Ridgewater College campus in Hutchinson.
