DAWSON -- Katherine Ida Hersom, 89, of Dawson, died Monday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Dawson. Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today with a closing prayer service at 5 p.m. at the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Dawson. Arrangements are with Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home of Dawson.
She was born July 7, 1919, in Clear Lake, S.D., to John and Selma (Bolden) Peiker. She grew up and attended schools in the Gary, Marietta and Revillo areas.
She married Lyle Hersom on Feb. 20, 1941. In 1945, they purchased a farm in Dawson and farmed together until retirement in 1982. They then built a home on the farmstead and resided there until her husband died. Then she moved into the Prairie West Apartments in Dawson. She moved to the Johnson Memorial Home in 2005.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Senior Citizens in Dawson. She is survived by two sons: Roger (and Linda) Hersom of Rogers, and Rick (and Sharon) Hersom of Dawson; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1993, two brothers and two sisters.
