WILLMAR -- Kenneth Edmund Robertson, 83, of Willmar died Sunday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar DAV, VFW and American Legion Posts.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.

He was born July 3, 1922, in Willmar to William and Ruth (Anderson) Robertson. He grew up in Willmar and attended Willmar Public Schools. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was 17 and worked in southern Minnesota during the Depression. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam and Guadalcanal. He returned to the Willmar area.

He married Lucille Bongs on Sept. 8, 1946, in Raymond. He worked for Chappell Duct, Miff Larson's Sinclair, the Willmar American Legion and as a custodian for the Willmar Public School. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and locked the church after Sunday services for about five years. He also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW and the American Legion Post in Willmar.

He is survived by his children: Peggy (and Phillip) Blakely of Cass Lake, Brian (and Marcia) Robertson of Mankato, Bonnie (and Eustace) Kiriakos of Hazlet, N.J., Dean (and Kathy) Robertson of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul Robertson of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings: James Robertson of Willmar, Phyllis (and Bob) Allen of Spicer, Dorothy Kleven of Willmar and Joyce Davidson of Tampa, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999 and one sister.
