BENSON -- Kenneth Franklin Haugen, 86, of Benson died Tuesday at Meadow Lane Health Care Center in Benson. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Jacobson-Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

He was born May 2, 1919, in Kerkhoven Township, Swift County, to Alfred and Anna (Hollen) Haugen. He grew up there and attended country school.

He married Alvera Flaten on June 15, 1942, at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church. He served as a medic in the South Pacific in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. They lived in Benson. He worked for Hawley's Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years.

He was a charter member of the Lions, a member of the Benson VFW and the DAV and served as a church usher for many years at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; sons: Robert (and Bonnie) Haugen of Apple Valley, Ross (and Jana) Haugen of Plymouth; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother: Clarice Haugen; and three brothers.
