MELROSE -- Steve Kluver picked up one of only two Willmar individual wins in a 105-79 non-conference loss to Melrose on Tuesday.
Kluver won the 50 freestyle in 25.32, part of a strong meet overall by the Cardinals' freshman. He shaved several seconds off his personal best in a second-place swim in the backstroke.
Eric Hedy won the 500 for the visitors in a time of 5:58.73.
Willmar's Andrew Nicklawsky was second in both the 200 and 100 freestyles, to Matt Mead both times.
