The Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg boys basketball team is not known for its proclivity from three-point range.
So when the Fighting Saints (12-6) jacked up 21 attempts and sank an amazing 10 of them a week ago today against Central Minnesota Christian, it had to be some sort of accomplishment.
At least in recent history, it is. The 10 treys represents the most for a KMS team in a single game since the beginning of the 2003-04 season, which is as far back as complete West Central Tribune records go.
The Fighting Saints have hit six in a game numerous times since then, but never more than that. As a matter of fact, KMS relies on the three-pointer so little that it has had five games this season without making one.
And those 10 three-pointers also represent just short of 25 percent of the Fighting Saints' total of 44 for the season (through Monday).
