DAWSON -- Canby avenged a nine-point loss to KMS three weeks ago, topping the Fighting Saints 39-18 in the Section 3A championship Saturday.
KMS was ranked No. 2 by The Guillotine and Canby was No. 3.
After Kurt Timmons won a decision at 103 pounds to give KMS the lead, Canby won four straight matches to take an 18-3 lead it would not relinquish.
The Lancers got four pins in the match, while KMS had none. Kevin Steinhaus won by a technical fall at 152 pounds. But Mitch Hagen's major decision at 160 was the only other bonus-points win for the Saints.
In the first meeting against Canby, KMS rallied from a 24-10 deficit by winning the final six matches. This time, the teams split the final six matches. Canby heavyweight Brad Wollum avenged an earlier loss to Cody Kinney, handing the KMS heavyweight his first loss of the season, 4-3.
