Jon Kubat, a Southwest Minnesota State senior linebacker from Dawson, was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Kubat, a 6-foot, 254-pounder, was cited for his performance in Saturday's season finale against Minnesota State-Moorhead at the Metrodome.
Kubat recorded a game-high 14 tackles and an interceptions in SMSU's 22-20 loss.
Kubat led the team this season with 107 tackles and three interceptions.
