MADISON – The two people found dead Wednesday in rural Madison have been identified, and law enforcement has determined that they died as a result of a homicide and suicide.
Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office deputies found William C. Walley, 78, and Shelley B. Walley, 69, dead while performing a welfare check around 8 a.m. Tuesday at their Madison Township residence.
The Sheriff's Office said in a news release that the crime scene was processed and the couple’s bodies were transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Preliminary investigation has revealed that William Walley allegedly used a shotgun to shoot his wife, Shelley Walley, and then turned the shotgun on himself, the Sheriff's Office said.
