WATSON - The Lac qui Parle Mission reopened Thursday.
The site had been closed since July 28 after a storm damaged the building and toppled trees on the site.
According to a news release, contractors repaired broken rafters and re-shingled the roof.
The site will remain open through the end of September. Visitors should note that there is debris in the parking lot which will not be removed until October.
Repair and cleanup costs from the storm for the site will total almost $20,000, according to June Lynne, director of the Chippewa County Historical Society.
The Mission is located six miles north of Montevideo on U.S. Highway 59, and 2 miles west on County Road 13. The Mission is located on the right on top of the hill.
Lynne urges anyone visiting the Mission to also stop at the nearby Fort Renville overlook. A number of trees were felled at the site to give a beautiful view of the lake, she said in the news release.
