BRAINERD -- Rainy River drained seven 3-pointers and got 28 points from 6-foot-2 post Michelle Cheney to drub Ridgewater 68-57 Friday in the Central Lakes Invitational.
The Lady Voyageurs (4-5) led by as many as 23 points after holding Ridgewater (5-5) to just 20 first-half points.
The Lady Warriors nearly didn't reach 20, but Kristen Hegna drained a three-pointer just inside the half-court line as the buzzer sounded.
Rainy River then pulled away in the second half before the Lady Warriors got within striking distance, trailing by only six points.
Hilary Groothuis, Ridgewater's leading scorer, was held scoreless in the first half before scoring all 13 of her team-high 13 points in the second half. Hegna followed with 11 points after making three 3-pointers. But no one else had more then six points for the Lady Warrriors.

Ridgewater wraps up the invite today by playing Central Lakes at 4 p.m.
