WILLMAR -- Ridgewater College went 3-1 at their own seven-team invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Warriors defeated Hibbing Community College 25-23, 25-22, and Bismarck State College 25-11, 25-21, before bowing in three games to Sioux Falls College JV 25-13, 23-25, 15-9.
Their final match was a replay of last November's NJCAA Division III championship match in which the Central Lakes Raiders of Brainerd tipped the Warriors in five games. This time the Lady Warriors prevailed 25-19, 26-24.
"We had a great tournament against competitive teams," said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth. "We took better care of the ball and played well defensively. Our offense still needs work but I'm pleased overall with where we're at."
Ridgewater hitting leaders for the day were Stephanie Tillman with 22 kills, Jordan Olerud with 21 and Leah Miller with 20. Carina Fesenmaier delivered on 33 of 40 serves with nine aces and also made 76 set assists. Tillman, a freshman from Sartell, also had seven ace blocks while libero Darcie Listul led the defense with 31 digs in nine games.

The Lady Warriors (9-3) will host Anoka-Ramsey in an MCAC Southern Division match on Wednesday.
