FERGUS FALLS -- Ashley Olson and Hilary Groothuis both smashed 13 kills Friday to help Ridgewater clinch at least a tie for the MCCC Southern Division title after the Lady Warriors upended Fergus Falls 30-22, 29-31, 30-25, 30-22.
Ridgewater remained perfect in the division at 8-0 and improved its overall record to 23-3. The Lady Warriors have only a match at Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday and a home match with Minnesota West on Oct. 18 on their division schedule.
Jackie Noyes followed Olson and Groothuis with 10 kills, but it was the defense that kept Ridgewater unbeaten in the division.
"They slowed our offense down considerably," said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth. "They served short and we ended up crumbling in the second game. In the end it was us playing their game a little better than they did."
Laura Suter directed the Ridgewater offense with 44 assists and Noyes amassed five ace blocks.
