AUSTIN -- Ridgewater overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half, but Riverland's seven 3-pointers proved to be too much for the Lady Warriors as Riverland created a logjam in the MCCC Southern Division by posting a 62-59 win Saturday.
Ridgewater, Riverland and Minneapolis -- all at 2-5 in the division -- are vying for the final spot in the state tournament, which is hosted by the Lady Warriors Feb. 23-25.
Kayla Karnes hit a three-pointer with 1½ minutes left to put Ridgewater up 59-57. Riverland then got a trey from Tibisia Thor on its next possession to take over the lead for good. Thor iced the win by making two free throws with 29 seconds left.
Hilary Groothuis led Ridgewater with 20 points while Ashley Olson added 16 and Karnes 10.
