RAINERD -- The Ridgewater women's basketball team survived some sloppy play to win its first-round game of the Central Lakes Invite, 54-39, over Rainy River Friday.
Ridgewater and Rainy River combined for 46 turnovers and 85 rebounds.
The Lady Warriors made 22-of-54 shots from the field.
"For us to shoot 41 percent, there's nothing wrong with that," said coach Carrie Ogdahl. "(Rainy River) didn't shoot very well."
The Voyageurs made only 15-of-57 shots for 26 percent.

Lisa Nielsen and Hilary Groothuis scored 13 points each to lead the Ridgewater scoring attack. Emily Mathiowetz added 10 points. Patina Queenan led with five assists and Bridget Boehlke and Nielsen had three steals each.
The Lady Warriors will play Central Lakes at 4 p.m. today in the second day of the tournament.
