LITCHFIELD -- Megan Lambertson, a 6-0 senior middle hitter from Litchfield, signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball for North Dakota State University on Wednesday.

Lambertson, an All-Area first team selection, was a four-year starter for Litchfield. She had an area-best 442 kills (No. 8 all-time for single season in the area), a .385 kill percentage and 55 ace blocks this season for the Dragons, who finished 19-10.

"(NDSU) showed interest in me when I was playing on a JO team out of Monticello after my junior year," said Lambertson, by telephone Wednesday evening. "Before that, I wasn't even really considering playing volleyball in college."

Lambertson was an All-Area second team choice as a junior.

The four-year starter finished her prep career at Litchfield with 1,204 kills, the fifth-highest total all-time in the area. She also had 200 ace blocks in her career.

"Megan is a very explosive player," said Litchfield volleyball coach Darin Swenson. "She is one of the better athletes in the state. She continues to develop a greater variety of offensive skills. She's also an intimidating presence at the net and has developed into a great back row player."

Lambertson was All-State the last two seasons and three times was all-Wright County Conference.

"My family and I went and visited North Dakota State and I really liked it there," she said. "I could tell it was a place I wouldn't mind spending four years at."

Lambertson was second on the team this season with 187 digs and second in serve receive with 379.

Lambertson also plays basketball and is on the track and field team at Litchfield. She is a three-time state placewinner in the high jump.
