KERKHOVEN  -  Scott and Teresa Lamecker are closer to filling the void left in Kerkhoven with the closing of the community’s hardware and grocery store businesses in 2013.
The couple is aiming to open Lamecker’s General Store at the end of the month, if work continues to progress as hoped. Scott Lamecker plans to operate the business as a multi-purpose general store, including a small repair business, according to a news release from the Southwest Initiative Foundation.
The Southwest Initiative Foundation provided loan assistance through its Microenterprise Loan Program.
The Swift County GROW and other agencies also assisted with financing for the new business.
Lamecker has been working with the former owners of both businesses, along with hardware and grocery vendors, for advice on the store operations and needs. Lamecker has a very good knowledge of hardware, which will prove helpful for customers, the foundation said in the news release.
Lamecker’s General Store will be open Monday through Saturday, with normal business hours expected. Lamecker may be contacted at the store at 320-264-3711 or 320-894-5382 (cell), to inquire about product or services.
