BENSON -- Lawrence Arthur Swingseth, 94, of Benson died Saturday at the Swift County-Benson Hospital.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls. Burial will be at the Swift Falls Cemetery.

Visiation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.

He was born Jan. 21, 1912, in Swift Falls to Elling and Dena (Hanson) Swingseth. He attended country school through the eighth grade. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in New Guinea, Luzon, and the Philippines. He received the Bronze Star and other ribbons. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked as a truck driver most of his life, doing local and long-distance driving.

He is survived by his siblings: Ervin Swingseth, Alice Tatge, both of Benson, Bernice Tatge of Renville, Gladys (and Orville) Benson of Milan; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
