WILLMAR -- Willmar Superintendent Kathy Leedom will be part of the state's trade mission to China this fall. Leedom is one of three Minnesota public school superintendents who will be part of the education delegation, led by University of Minnesota Leedom President Robert Bruinincks. The School Board moved its Nov. 14 meeting to noon on Nov. 9, because Leedom will be leaving for China on Nov. 11. "It's very exciting," she said. "It's an opportunity to visit schools ... and to meet with educators." She also hopes to have a chance to forge relationships with school officials in China. The delegation will be visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Leedom said she received the invitation in late July. She has received a letter of invitation from the Chinese government. A short description of the Willmar Public Schools she wrote will be translated into Chinese and will be part of a brochure.
