CLARA CITY -- Leona Louise Rothers, 91, of Clara City died Wednesday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.

The service will be at 10:30 Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Clara City and will continue for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

She was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Raymond to William and Bertha (Schmidt) Buchholz. She was raised in the Raymond area. She wanted to receive her education in Clara City so she took a job as a housekeeper and graduated in 1934 from Clara City High School.

She married Henry James Rothers June 7, 1943, in Raymond. Her husband was in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. They lived in Colorado for a year. After he was discharged, they returned to Clara City. She worked as a cook for the American Legion and Eleanor's Café. For health reasons she moved to the Golden Living Center in Olivia for five years.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Immanuel Lutheran Church; where she also participated in the ladies aide.

She is survived by her children: Larry of Brooklyn Park, Karen of Clara City, Michael (and Mary) of Clara City; five grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Gertrude Brenner of Detroit, Esther Bourne of Montevideo, Loretta (and Harvey) Quenemoen of Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, two brothers and three sisters.
