BIRD ISLAND -- LeRoy Eiler, 89, of Bird Island died Wednesday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
The service will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7:30 prayer service, at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1918, in rural Bird Island to Joseph and Mary (Kiendle) Eiler. He attended school in rural Bird Island and later at St. Mary's.
He married Loretta Lutz on Aug. 19, 1944, in Bird Island. He served in the United States Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He returned to Bird Island, and they farmed in rural Bird Island. In 1979, they retired and moved into Bird Island. They spent many winters in Texas. Loretta died in 1980. He continued spending winters in Texas. He lived at the Bird Island Manor for many years. In 2003, he moved to the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Bird Island American Legion.
He is survived by his son: Lee (and Julie) Eiler of Wood Lake; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant sister.
