ST. MICHAEL -- Lester Arnold Helgeson, 93, of St. Michael, formerly of Sunburg, died Monday at his home.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West Lake Lutheran Church in rural Sunburg. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

He was born on July 7, 1914, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, to Norval and N. Marie (Nelson) Helgeson. He grew up in Arctander Township and attended country school. He helped on the family farm and worked on his uncle's farm. He also worked in the Red River Valley. Then he moved to the Twin Cities, where he worked for G.M. Stewart Lumber. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He returned to the Cities and continued to work for G.M. Stewart.

He married Connie Norlander on Oct. 6, 1951, in Minneapolis. He worked for United States Plywood. He retired in 1976. For the past five years he lived in St. Michael with his son.

He was a member of West Lake Lutheran Church, rural Sunburg.

He is survived by his children: Cheryl Helgeson of Spring Lake Park, Danial (and Ginny) Helgeson of St. Michael, Kenneth Helgeson of Brooklyn Park; two grandchildren; siblings: Mildred Call and Verna Wright, both of Willmar, and Ardis Mullis of Mahtomedi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, twin sons, Donald and David, three brothers and six sisters.
