CYRUS -- Lester John Pollard, 84, of Cyrus died Thursday at the Veterans Administration hospital in Fargo, N.D.
The service will be at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington. Burial will be Tuesday at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.

He was born April 3, 1923, in Benton County near Foley to Joseph and Rose Pollard. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940. He also drove a grain truck for R.W. Greiner.
He married Elizabeth (Betty) Kill on March 16, 1943, in Morris. From 1944 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division and was stationed in Italy as a marksman. After his discharge, he attended the Dunwoody Institute. In 1948, they moved to a farm near Chokio. While farming he attended the agriculture school in Morris. In 1955, they purchased their farm near Cyrus where they had livestock and grain operation.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the 9F Sportsman's Club and served on the Pope County Soil and Water Board.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Bruce Pollard of Cyrus and Kevin (and Linda) Pollard of Kensington; three daughters: Connie (and Spencer) Howey of Chokio, Chleo Anderson of Alexandria and RaeJean (and Ted) Marsh of Roberts, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Phil (and Ruth) Pollard of Redmond, Wash., Ted (and Phyllis) Pollard of Foley and Bill (and Margaret) Pollard of Mound; and one sister: Dorothy Swalboski of St. Peter.
He was preceded in death by one brother and six infant grandchildren.
