Letter: A new direction for the U.S.

To date we have heard very little about a dark-horse candidate for president. However, the media and some candidates are beginning to take notice of the candidate from Texas, a congressman who is very popular in his own district.

To date we have heard very little about a dark-horse candidate for president. However, the media and some candidates are beginning to take notice of the candidate from Texas, a congressman who is very popular in his own district.

This candidate, a Republican, has started to get more attention because he has begun to raise a lot of money from the average citizen. His name is Congressman Ron Paul. In one day he raised $4.2 million --more than any other Republican candidate has in one day. The average contribution was only $103, from 36,672 donors.

Many people have lost faith in both the far left and also the right politicians, who seem to have forgotten that we have a Constitution. Our Constitution does not say the federal government should rule supreme over the states, or the people, it does not call for a federal income tax, federally run schools, a welfare state of freebies, support for illegal immigrants, etc.

It does call for life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, freedom of religion (not from religion). The Federal Reserve should not be printing U.S. money with no backing; we should print and back our own! Congress votes and passes legislation and laws that they have never read. Is it any wonder that the citizens are getting fed up with this tax, spend and borrow government?

I am overjoyed that people are waking up to what is happening. I sincerely hope and pray that the politicians will wake up and change the direction we are going before it is too late. Vote for the candidate you agree with, not the one you believe has the best chance of winning; even if he wins, you lose!
