Cal Thomas did not have to insult public schools in his support of the Community Christian School. It does not have to be the Christian schools against the public schools.
I have worked in Minnesota public education for 35 years. Every day, in every way, I have seen public school teachers and staff model and teach morals and values such as respect, kindness and honesty. Many schools have specific programs for conflict resolution, character building and prevention of sexual, religious and racial discrimination. What a disservice Thomas did to put down the people who so tirelessly and competently teach morals and values, as well as academics, in the public schools.
I am grateful for the excellent public education my daughters received at New London-Spicer Schools and the University of Minnesota in Morris. In good conscience I will willingly pay taxes to support public schools in Minnesota.
