"If we don't fight them over there, we'll have to fight them at home." That's a continuous neo-conservative comment. I'd ask just how many countries are we expected to invade to accomplish that task. We are barely able to maintain troop strength now. President Bush says this is an unending war on terrorism. That's not a very positive statement, but if we continue our present policies it may be the first true thing he's ever said. If there is an unending war, it won't be long until we are bankrupt. Therefore, staying the course is impossible.
"Support the troops." Neo-cons believe this means funding a continuous, unending war.
Don't troops receive salaries when they're not fighting? I suppose troops would be disappointed if they were brought home?
Here are possible answers to questions. We can't fight a continuous war. Wouldn't it be better to change the world opinion of the U.S.? Would we be targets if we were liked, not hated? Do you suppose we'd be treated differently if we treated others like we'd like to be treated? I recently heard Tom Bolton, our former UN delegate, stating we should have regime change in Iran. We do things like that all the time. That's partly why we're hated. We tell everyone else how to run their country and do a miserable job of running our own, including legalizing torture and imprisoning people for years without charging them. How would Bush feel if he were one of those prisoners? We are a country living a lie and lies come easily from G.W. Bush.
