In February of 2003, when the war in the Middle East was still in its infancy, I was sick and tired of the sanctimonious and erroneous propaganda used by the administration to justify the war. They claimed "it was the right thing to do."
They were successful in convincing the vulnerable majority and most of our legislative body. At that time, I submitted a letter to the editor questioning this action, taking a quotation from the Bible, "Beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but underneath are ravenous wolves."
The majority, including most of our legislators, have finally concluded that we were sucked in and have been victimized by this group of false prophets. We are now desperate to seek a solution to this shameful and unholy mess. There is no question that we need new leadership.
We are on the brink of the most sensational marketing escapade of our time, the 44th presidential campaign. It will be fraught with falsehoods, character assassinations, and a variety of moral issues that have nothing to do with good governance. If we rely solely on the propaganda we are subjected to during the campaign, it is likely that we will again become victims of false prophets.
