Do not be fooled. A bill called the Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R. 2421) is a fraudulent hoax that would give the federal government control of every activity within a watershed. Hint: no spot in the United States is outside of a watershed. This bill is about total federal land use control under the guise of "clean water."
How does the bill do this? For the first time ever, federal agencies would control "activities affecting" all wet areas or potentially wet areas in the country. If passed, the bill would dramatically alter the extent to which federal agencies can control our lives and our use of land whether we're farmers, homeowners, ranchers, hunters, snowmobile recreationalists, hikers, campers, mayors or you name it.
The bill is authored by Rep. Jim Oberstar and supported by radical "greens" and will be heard in the Transportation Committee on Dec. 6 in Washington, D.C.
I hope my congressman, Rep. Collin Peterson, uses everything in his power to protect us homeowners and landowners from this abuse of our rights as citizens to own private property and use public land.
