If you don't like your property tax bill, don't blame the governor, blame your local government.

Property tax decisions are made at the local level by local governments that set their tax rates based on their spending decisions, the services they provide, and the value of the properties in the community.

State tax decisions that are in the governor's court include sales and income taxes, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been a responsible steward, provided local government aid to cities that really need it, and has held the line on taxes.

As educated Minnesotans, you know how politicians are during election season. They will say anything to get your vote. So ask yourself this question: How is it possible that during the "do-nothing" legislative sessions that the governor cut Minnesota's budget to the bone, "making it like Mississippi" in the words of DFL leaders, and now all the ads and propaganda argue that the governor is responsible for raising taxes? Intelligent Minnesotans cannot let them have it both ways.
