On Jan. 19, 2002, I paid $11.89 locally for 11.11 gallons of gas, which came to $1.07 per gallon. In May of this year, gas cost $2.95 for a gallon of gas and it cost me over $40 to fill up. Last Saturday, Oct. 28, I paid $2.25 per gallon at the same station. I find it interesting the price dropped so close to the election.

Last week it was reported that Exxon has made a profit of over $3.5 billion in the past quarter. Again I find it interesting that since the present administration took office, their oil friends have made billions of dollars and we, as the middle class, pay more and more for everything.

When you go to the polls today, think about how much money Exxon has benefited from this war. By the same token, how many families are paying a terrible price by losing their loved ones in the war? Many more soldiers will have to live the rest of their lives with disabilities. Remember to vote!
