Farming is in Koenen's blood
In the West Central Tribune's recent endorsement of the Republican candidate in House District 20B (Olivia, Renville, Montevideo, Granite Falls areas), inaccurate statements were written about Rep. Lyle Koenen. To call him a "quiet farmer" is wrong on both counts. He was a dairy farmer most of his life; he is now a truck driver and state legislator. Not outgoing, you say? Perhaps you should meet him, talk to him, ask him questions. He is the friendliest, easiest-to-talk-to guy around.
Any reporter or editor worth their salt would make the phone calls necessary to find out the facts. Koenen farmed with his father and brother, and once he was elected to the Legislature in 2002, he got out of farming. Anyone with a clue about farming would know how time- and energy-consuming it is.
Anyone who knows Koenen knows that farming is in his blood and it always will be. In District 20B, agriculture dominates all industries. Koenen is exactly who should represent District 20B.
