We should have fought the war on terrorism by protecting our borders and staying out of any more conflicts with the Middle East. I understand the need to go after Osama bin Laden, but to invade Iraq was ill-advised and a rush to judgment. The president acted on personal feelings, in my opinion, and didn't think about what this war may do to us or the economy.

Bush was looking for someone to blame for 9/11 and he wanted to make the American people feel as though we won't let anyone push us around. Meanwhile Saddam is dead and we have been in Iraq for over five years, trying to bring stability to a country that may never be stable.

We thought we picked leaders to help with the transition, but they stole millions and then fled the country. Of course the private sector wanted us to stay in Iraq because they are making millions with the rebuilding of Iraq. Soldiers are being killed and wounded and the people of Iraq are being blown up with no end in sight. This is Vietnam and we seem to have once again underestimated our enemy.

No one wins in this war. Those that say we should stay and fight are ignorant. But this should not take any glory away from our soldiers who have a job to do and do it without hesitation. They have sacrificed their families and in some cases their lives. This is why the president should call an end to this war and bring the troops home before we lose more lives, but he won't.

The problem with pulling out of Iraq is we lose face and the war on terrorism, according to the president. If Iraq was the only country in the Middle East that sponsored terrorism, that would be fine, but it isn't. The Middle East is loaded with terrorists and insurgents and all we do is force them into another area.

Terrorism is like drugs and gangs. You will never be rid of it, you can only hope to control it, but your odds are better if we stay out of the Middle East, period.
