I realize that I am "getting on," so I try not to say, "What is this world coming to?" more than necessary. I did say it the other day, though, after I went to Willmar to look for a cheap and easy cell phone. I went to one electronic store and one big box store.
At each store, I was waited on by a young person who seemed to know their stuff about cell phones, but sorely lacked the real finesse of a good salesperson.
At the electronics store, all the while she was offering me her expertise, the young woman was either biting on a cuticle, a fingernail or peeling off her nail polish with her teeth. I tried really hard to see which, but found I was too short. I gave up, but my trying to see didn't deter her.
At the other store, the young man had all the information and in the middle of giving it to me, burped out loud, continued talking and didn't even say "Excuse me."
I went home, fearing that if I went to another store I would be waited on by someone picking their nose.
