Letter: Obama's boundless chutzpah

Who ever heard of an American political candidate going on a fact-finding mission to a foreign country and asking to deliver a speech at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin as if he is a world statesman of established renown?

Barack Obama's chutzpah knows no bounds!

True, he is running for president of the United States, but why would not a nation such as Germany insist that John McCain be given the same privilege if Obama is so served?

Will it become customary now for all foreign statesmen visiting Germany to address huge rallies such as we witnessed on television this week to hear Barack Obama?

If Hillary Clinton had made such a request, the media would have crucified her as a megalomaniac! Even with McCain's length of service in the Senate, it seems very unlikely that he would ever have been granted such an outlandish request.

But the American media tumbles all over itself to report Obama's pre-emptive victory procession across the Middle East and Europe. He is lauded as a young messiah for every move he makes. I think the Republicans are just beginning to resent the media's foreordained anointment of Obama exactly as the supporters of Hillary Clinton did before Obama became the presumptive nominee with the rabid support of Democratic bigwigs.

The last presidential election was handed to George W. Bush over the lingering howls of the Democrats. This election this fall will be handed to Obama by Democratic superdelegates and an adoring media. When will the common citizen be recognized as capable again of making his/her own decisions without the intervention of these arrogant politicians and overweening know-it-all pundits on radio and TV?
