As the Minnesota legislative session winds down, our elected leaders have the chance to do something historic for the future of Minnesota: Pass the Minnesota Clean Cars Act, giving us better gas mileage in our trucks and cars.
It is my opinion that nothing in life, no choice, is black or white, right or wrong, but some decisions can still be made easily. Passage of the Minnesota Clean Cars Act is just such a decision.
The threat of global warming is real, with real consequences. The poles are melting, the climate is changing and all of us are caught in the middle.
Our entire civilization is founded upon a known and reasonably predictable climate. Our critical life-giving crops depend upon a stable, reasonably predictable climate. Allowing the climate to change puts too much at risk.
Exactly when population worldwide is spiking, demand is increasing for all resource types. Global warming is the issue. Without adequately addressing global warming, nothing else matters much.

We as Minnesotans, as Americans, as citizens of the world, must reduce our carbon footprint, our impact. Our way of life may depend on it. Passage of the Minnesota Clean Cars act helps consumers save money on fuel and reduces our carbon footprint.
As consumers, for too long we've been told it's too hard, it doesn't exist, or it's too expensive. Foolishness! Necessity has brought us more than adequate choices for the changes asked for in the Minnesota Clean Cars Act. Automakers must be told we demand better. The same old garbage will not do, give us better choices. The Minnesota Clean Cars act will drive this message home.
We as Americans depend on other countries to supply huge amounts of our energy. Many of these countries don't like us. We are beholden to their whims and trifles. America is politely walking up the gallows and putting a noose around its own neck.
Let's stop this madness and change. If the solutions to the issues I have written about were found on an apple tree, let us pick the low-hanging fruit, let us make the easiest changes first, let us pass the Minnesota Clean Cars Act.
