"An error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it." So said Orlando A. Battista. The West Central Tribune made an error on Tuesday when it endorsed Scott Van Binsbergen for District 20B representative. However, we can correct this error and resolve the Tribune's mistake by re-electing Lyle Koenen as the District 20B representative.
Lyle may not be the loudest voice or most animated of all the state's representatives, but he is a hard-working and effective representative who works tirelessly for the betterment of west-central Minnesota. The same cannot be said for Van Binsbergen. He has run an egotistical and pushy campaign that has favored the big money interests over local working people. In addition, he has benefited from one of the most negative attack and smear campaigns in the entire state. The Republican Party and HRCC have put an enormous sum of money into ads that tell half-truths and flat-out lies about Lyle Koenen.
When Gov. Tim Pawlenty came to Montevideo to campaign for Van Binsbergen, Pawlenty stated that we needed to "modernize livestock agriculture."
Translation -- they both stand for increased factory farming. This "modernization" harms communities by putting family farmers out of business, lowering property values, causing environmental degradation, etc.
Lyle has the experience and sincerity it takes to represent west-central Minnesota. Finally, I've heard it over and over again. People like Lyle Koenen. He is a wonderful guy that deserves your endorsement and your vote!
