I think most of us, if not all of us, in the Meeker County area are aware of the importance of the Highway 12 corridor that connects us with the metropolitan area. Highway 12 provides a vital economic and social link between rural Minnesota and the metropolitan area. If you have traveled into the Twin Cities along Highway 12, you are certainly aware of the situation concerning the bypass in Long Lake. This highway department project has stalled because of the lack of funds. Why has this happened?
Well, our current House District 18B representative, Dean Urdahl, has voted against raising the gas tax that would have provided the funding to finish the Highway 12 project.
We need a representative in St. Paul who is not stuck in the slow lane on transportation issues. Please join me in sending Dr. David Detert into the passing lane as our House District 18B representative so we can get the roads and bridges we need and deserve.
