Letter: Shame on animal neglecters

Shame on the Kandiyohi County Humane Society! On Aug. 7, the temperature was in the mid-90s with high humidity. My brother came home from work and noticed the neighbor dog (a very small terrier) was chained up in the yard with no shade and no water.

Shame on the Kandiyohi County Humane Society! On Aug. 7, the temperature was in the mid-90s with high humidity. My brother came home from work and noticed the neighbor dog (a very small terrier) was chained up in the yard with no shade and no water. Another neighbor told him the dog had been outside like that all day.

My brother waited a bit to see if the family would come out to get the dog. When that didn't happen, he called the Humane Society. They advised him to call the police, that this was a code enforcement issue. Then the Willmar Police informed him that since he lives just outside of town he should call back to the Humane Society. He made a second call to the Humane Society. Now they tell him to call the county sheriff's office.

By this time, the neighbor finally took the dog inside. No one from any agency ever did show up. But let me put the blame where it really belongs, to the neglectful people who do not provide for their animals.
