Many powerful proclamations were given in preparation for the founding of our great nation. Whether we continue as a great nation or not depends on whether we continue in the faith and concepts that caused it to succeed and flourish.
I would like to submit one such message given by Benjamin Franklin in 1789 to the convention for forming the Constitution of these United States.
Some may argue that he was a deist and not a Christian. Read the following excerpt from his speech and then decide what you think he was. Then decide if you think it is also time for thinking people to wake up and stand up and save our nation from the boldness and intimidation of anti-God factions in America:
"In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Devine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. And have we now forgotten this powerful Friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?
"I have lived a long time (81) years, and the longer I live the more convincing proof I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it impossible that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that 'Except the Lord build a house, they labor in vain that build it,' I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall proceed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel."
