I was privileged to help at the junior high band festival held at New London-Spicer on March 14. Present were seventh- and eighth-grade bands from KMS and Paynesville, Willmar's seventh-grade band and New London-Spicer's eighth-grade band.
It was a pleasure to see all those junior high students involved in music, for one thing. But even more pleasurable was their wonderful behavior. These young people are a credit to their families, their schools and their respective band directors.
As school boards are once again faced with budget cuts, this band festival should speak to the schools' respective boards to not make cuts in the music budget.
