If you have been thinking about adding a cat or kitten to your family, now would be a good time to do so. The Humane Society animal shelter is overflowing with cats and kittens. Every week healthy, adoptable animals are being put to sleep because there is no room for them. People don't like to hear this but it is the sad reality as long as there are irresponsible pet owners.

The solution to the problem of pet overpopulation lies with the pet owner. If you have a dog or cat, be responsible and get it spayed or neutered as fast as you can. If you need financial assistance, call the Humane Society to see if you may be eligible for some help. Reducing pet overpopulation is one of the primary goals of the Humane Society.

Be nice to your pet. Keep it under control so it can't get hit by a car or get lost. Put some identification on your pet so if it does get lost, people can call you. And don't dump your pet in a park or the country if you don't want it anymore. These are domesticated animals who can't survive on their own. Support your local animal shelter so there will always be a place for animals who are the victims of irresponsible people.
