Letter: Thank hard-working teachers

To be a teacher? Where is the dignity and respect? Do you people know how hard these individuals work for your children, not only during school hours, but at night and the weekends?...

These are the individuals that are there helping after school with activities, not because of money (yes, sometimes getting paid through grant money, usually very little money), but many times volunteering.

Where are you? Sitting and complaining. Get out and help. Volunteer. Help create solutions. Teach a class after school to enrich children's lives and education. Let them see you, the community, not hear you whining and pointing fingers. If you need to point a finger then it should be pointed at a teacher and you should be saying, "Hey, there's a teacher. He/she's doing a great job for our children." It's such a shame that in this country, teachers are treated like the enemy.
