We were very sorry to hear that the Jackpot Junction casino talent contest might not happen this year. The talent show has been a form of community pride, great PR for the casino, and the perfect winter activity for the past 15 years. Every Tuesday night, the Classic Lounge was packed for the semi-finals, and at least 1,500 to 2,000 people attended the finals in the Dakota Exposition Center every spring. It is truly a gift from the casino to the community and a great opportunity to showcase local talent.

This talent show was more than just a public gathering for our family. Our daughter, Brianna Rhubee, has been competing in the talent show since she was 14 years old, and last year, at the age of 20, she won the finals. This show was a huge confidence builder for her and taught her so much about the music business, performing with a live band, and interacting with others in the industry. It was something we looked forward to doing every year.

Not only that, but the band was absolutely wonderful! Steve Millar and the Diamondhead Band are such talented musicians, and most importantly, genuine people. They did a great job entertaining the audience every week! And Jeanne Prescott, entertainment coordinator at the casino, did a fantastic job organizing the event. Jeanne and the band have become a second family to us over the years.

So, thank you, Jackpot Junction for sponsoring the talent show every year and for all you have done for our family and the rest of the community. The talent show will be missed, and we're very sorry to hear it may be ending.

Todd and Wendy Rhubee
