Wasn't it wonderful to see our wonderful governor's veto of the transportation bill overridden? Kudos to our local representative, Al Juhnke, who voted for the override. A special thanks should go to Rep. Bud Heidgerken, who voted to override the veto, even while he was bucking the Neanderthal Republican leadership.
It's more difficult to give plaudits to Rep. Dean Urdahl and to Sen. Joe Gimse, who would not buck their leadership.
To be sure, tax money can be wasted very easily. But how do we get along without roads? We don't want to look like Louisiana or Mississippi. (And we would very soon if we did nothing.)
As far as the governor goes, he may get the vice presidential nod from John McCain, but that would be sure to bring down the Republican house of cards (which at this point might be a very, very good thing).
And by the way, what does Gov. Pawlenty know about foreign policy? (I am sure he knows as much as George Bush!)
