I read the West Central Tribunre article concerning the sign issue, and would like to state some of my own opinions.
Although this sign is legal in every way, I can also see why it may be offensive to some people. I think that asking the owner to take the sign down was not right. This is a violation of our constitutional rights under the First Amendment, which clearly states that as citizens we have the right to say or write what we feel, or freedom of speech.
Taking down this sign would definitely violate our rights. Schools, however, can censor the signs that are on their property, but being that this sign was put on his own property, it should be all right. There have been many signs that may offend certain people, or many political jokes may offend certain people. It is no different than a pro-life person putting a non-abortion sign on his or her lawn. As citizens we have a right to state how we feel. Making this man take his sign down would be violating his rights.
