I heard someone say today that "Oh this energy thing, it's a problem, it's huge. I can't do anything about it.'' It is a huge problem. But I can't live with the idea that I can't do anything about it. We each have a vote and we can vote for renewable energy in this year's election.

I have two small children. The rest of the world is not going to just hand over limited oil resources to us. We have to stop depending on energy that will only lead to more wars and fighting. I don't want my son to fight a war for oil that I use when there are alternatives. There are amazing things we can do now with wind and solar energy and just smart conservation. We need to leave our children an environment they can live in.

We have to find ways now to stop our dependence on oil and the only way to start is locally. Voting for legislators that will start putting our resources into local, renewable energy is something you can do. We need to do it for our children. It is our responsibility.
