Sen. Dean Elton Johnson has expanded his sanding off the truth to sawing it in half. In his recent radio ad, Johnson plays half of a recorded statement by his challenger, Joe Gimse. The sound bite is, "I can't compete with 30 years in the military, 34 years as a pastor, 30 some years as a legislator."

Johnson gives the listening audience the false perception that his opponent is conceding to his 94 years of accumulated experience. However, listening to the full context, Joe Gimse finishes by saying, "Experience doesn't trump integrity. It never will and never has." That's the whole truth. As a member of the clergy, a senior state legislator, and retired military officer, Johnson should be ashamed and embarrassed by his once again deception. Integrity counts; vote for Joe Gimse Nov. 7.
